Fuel pipeline monitoring
The Optisolution system uses the existing fiber-optic telecommunications network installed along fuel pipelines. Fuel pipeline monitoring systems based on fiber optic technology are an effective tool in maintaining their safety and operational efficiency. With increased location accuracy, operators are able to quickly identify incident locations, enabling quick repairs, reducing downtime and associated impacts.
Leak Detection
OptiSolution has two systems, RANGER and ZEUS, to monitor fuel pipelines for leaks.
RANGER recognizes changes in temperature around the pipeline, and ZEUS analyzes the surroundings and recognizes changes that occur as a result of a leak.
Intrusion Detection
The ZEUS system detects attempts to break into fuel pipelines. By recording vibrations caused by intrusions or damage attempts, the system enables early detection of threats.
Structural pipeline monitoring
ZEUS monitors the stress and structural deformation of pipelines. By using changes in the distribution of stress and strain along the entire length of the pipeline, the ZEUS system identifies areas of increased stress or potential failure points, enabling appropriate maintenance actions.
External Threat Detection
The ZEUS and RANGER systems detect external threats, such as ground subsidence, ground movements or temperature changes, which may affect the stability of the ground in which the pipeline is buried. Changes in acoustics recorded by the ZEUS system can indicate where these threats occur and enable appropriate preventive actions to be taken.
Mechanical Damage Detection
OptiPipe systems monitor pipelines for mechanical damage, such as scratches, cracks, or deformations. OptiPipe records changes in acoustics caused by interactions with the pipeline, enabling the detection and localization of damage, thus facilitating the necessary repairs to be conducted.
Temperature Monitoring
OptiPipe systems can monitor temperature along fuel pipelines. Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) records changes in temperature distribution, allowing for the detection of areas with elevated temperature, potential overheating, or insulation issues.

Leak Detection
The OptiPipe system monitors fuel pipelines for leaks. OptiPipe utilizes acoustic analysis to detect distinct sounds generated by leaks. This enables the rapid identification of the leak location.
Intrusion Detection
OptiPipe systems are capable of detecting attempts to tamper with or intrude upon fuel pipelines. OptiPipe records vibrations and oscillations caused by manipulation or attempts to damage the pipeline, enabling early detection.
Structural Strain Monitoring
OptiPipe monitors the stress and deformation of fuel pipelines. By detecting changes in stress and strain distribution along the entire length of the pipeline, the OptiPipe system identifies areas of increased stress or potential failure points, enabling appropriate maintenance actions to be taken.
External Threat Detection
OptiPipe detects external threats such as ground settlement, ground movements, or temperature changes that can impact the stability of the pipeline. Changes in acoustics recorded by the Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system can indicate these threats and enable appropriate preventive actions to be taken.
